Sorrento Valley event honors volunteers for the arts

The 25th Star Awards will be coming to the Irwin M Jacobs Qualcomm Hall in Sorrento Valley next month. This event honors volunteers from performing arts organizations in San Diego County and the role they have in the arts community. These volunteers have given hours of their time to dance, theater, music, and other cultural institutions in the county.

The event will begin with an auction and reception. Steve Gunderson and Melinda Gilb will be co-hosting the event and artistic directors in the area will provide on on-stage entertainment. The focus of the evening will be to recognize those who have received this award. After the live entertainment, there will be coffee and dessert.

The ‘Standing Ovation Award’, which is the highest recognition of the year, will be going to Osborn and Dea Hurston. They have volunteered for many years for many arts organizations and have also been patrons, arts advocates, and philanthropists.

Among the other star awards are Roxanne Rojas de Blanco and Cathy Stephenson from Arts for Learning San Diego; Katie Walders from Concepcion Choral Consortium of San Diego; and Dr. Angela Wang from Classics 4 Kids.

Events like this often use poster printing to promote themselves and the accomplishments of such indispensable people. The awards ceremony will take place this Saturday, February 2, beginning at 7:00 pm.
