YANUA International, the company behind the mobile game Saving Pandas, announced its plan to raise $10,000 to assist the San Diego Zoo Global Wildlife Conservancy with its work of helping recover the populations of endangered species, as well as protecting wildlife and wildlife habitats globally.
The game company plans on donating $1 from each download of the app (through June 4th) to the Wildlife Conservancy. The app was also showcased during an event over Memorial Day weekend at the San Diego Zoo.
YANUA launched the app in collaboration with the Chengdu Research Base of Panda Breeding of China.
The zoo’s chief marketing officer, Ted Molter, said the organization appreciates YANUA’s willingness to contribute towards panda conservation efforts.
At the recent Memorial Day event, guests were also able to enjoy iPad gameplay stations, photo opportunities with panda themes – great for postcard printing and holiday card creation later on in the year – and special free items such as Saving Pandas tattoos.
The Saving Pandas game is based on the five specimens that live at the Chengdu Research Base. Players help Jin Shi, Ying Ying, Yin Yin, Xi Le, or Le Le rescue baby bears from abduction by space aliens. Each panda has its own individual personality within the game, which also offers educational facts to players.
