NuVasive based in San Diego has announced that it is currently undergoing a major renovation and expansion of its global headquarters in the Sorrento Valley area.
The new space will feature an innovation center of excellence for the training and education of surgeons from around the world on the company’s spine procedures and technology. There will be 100,000 square feet of office and lab space for new employees, most of whom will likely require business card printing services. Other features of the expansion will include a state-of-the art biomedical testing center and a prototype design facility with 3D printing capabilities. There will also be a new building for amenities that will include a fitness center, am onsite café, and meeting space for up to 750 people.
Gregory T. Lucier, chairman and chief executive officer of NuVasive, expressed the company’s eagerness to continue its investment into the San Diego area and provide a facility where product development teams and surgeons can come together to collaborate and work closely on new technologies.
NuVasive got its start in 1997 as a medical technology company and developed pioneering minimally invasive, lateral spine surgery. It is now the third largest company in the world in the spine market, with expectations of surpassing $1bn in revenue by the end of this year.
