New discounted connections to be offered in Sorrento Valley

A pilot program is currently underway between the North Country Transit District (NCTD) and Uber, Lyft, and TripShot.

The parties involved want to provide first- and last-mile connections at a discount for commuters using the Coaster stations at Carlsbad Poinsettia and Sorrento Valley. NCTD said riders will get a credit of $7.50 towards trips to or from those stations.

The discounted rides are available during regular Coaster service Monday through Friday from 5:30 am to 10:30 pm. The TripShot application will enable passengers with a mobile device to book such trips for curb-to-curb service with a vehicle from the NCTD.

The discount is available for those NCTD+ trips that begin or end at either the Carlsbad Poinsettia or Sorrento Valley Coaster stations and are within the zone defined by the NCTD+. The first $2.50 of the cost of the trip will be covered and commuters will receive a credit of up to $7.50 for the completion of the trip. More information about such special programs is often outlined with flyer printing services.

Matthew O. Tucker, Executive Director of the NCTD, said that greater flexibility will be provided for commuters with NCTD+, and this will enable them to connect with these stations. He added that those who stay late or get in early will now have reliable transportation to or from two of the busiest Coaster stations.
