Caltrans District 11 and the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) are looking to develop a Comprehensive Multimodal Corridor Plan (CMCP) that will run from Del Mar to the border with Mexico.
The plan, also known as the South Bay to Sorrento Valley project, is designed to create an innovative transportation network between Sorrento Valley and the South Bay, which is one of the traffic corridors in San Diego County that is the most heavily traveled. It will investigate and evaluate all transportation facilities and travel modes in the corridor, including freeways and highways; transit such as rapid bus transit and light and intercity rail; connecting and parallel roadways, and bikeways. More information about such initiatives and plans can be made available to those in the region through many kinds of printing services.
The study area is 28 miles long and includes state routes 52, 54, 94 and 905 as well as interstates 5, 8 and 805. The Bayshore Bikeway is one of the major arteries in the corridor. Among the transit services are multiple Rapid lines, over 25 local bus lines, trolleys, and the Coaster.
Over the summer Caltrans and SANDAG will be holding virtual office hours so that they can take comments and respond to questions. There will be additional online tools for providing feedback on the corridor plans. Feedback will be accepted until Monday July 12.
