San Ramon to host foreign film series

The San Ramon Arts Foundation will be hosting the San Ramon Friday Foreign Film Series this month and next.

The series this year focuses on foreign films directed by women, with films from the Republic of Kosovo, Japan, India, and China. A group conversation will follow the screening of each film, led by a moderator.

Poster printing is often used to promote such film series throughout the community.

The first film will be “Sweet Bean,” which is in Japanese. It is directed by Naomi Kawase and has a runtime of 113 minutes. This will be on Friday, February 7.

The second film will be “Monsoon Wedding” in Hindi. It is directed by Mira Nair and has a runtime of 114 minutes. This will be on Friday, February 21.

The next film will be “Hive,” which is in Albanian. It is directed by Blerta Basholli, and has a runtime of 184 minutes. It is only for those 18 years of age and older. This will be on Friday, February 28.

The last film will be “The Farewell” in Mandarin. It is directed by Lulu Wang and has a runtime of 100 minutes. This will be on Friday, March 7.

The Film Series will be at The Front Row Theatre on Bollinger Canyon Road at the Dougherty Station Community Arts Center. All films will have English subtitles. Ticket prices are $15 per ticket or $11 per ticket when purchased as a bundle.
