San Ramon announces new director of human resources

Megan O’Donoghue is the first holder of the position of director of human resources for San Ramon, having taken up the role this month.

O’Donoghue has held the title of manager of human resources for the city since 2022 and has over 10 years of experience in this field. Business card printing services are often needed when such new appointments are announced.

As manager of human resources, O’Donoghue was in charge of all functions related to HR, including recruitment, labor and employee relations, retiree and employee benefits, managing the staff of the department, and the deployment, development, and execution of city goals and HR strategy. She also played a key role in transitioning human resources from a division within the team of administrative services to its own department.

City Manager of San Ramon, Steven Spedowfski, said that O’Donoghue has brought strategic focus and fresh energy to the team of human resources, and that her efforts are helping to cement San Ramon’s status as one of the region’s best employers.

Among the achievements of O’Donoghue are being a Senior Certified Professional through the Society for Human Resource Management and a Certified Labor Relations Manager through the California Public Employers Labor Relations Association. She was also recently elected treasurer for the Northern California City Human Resource Directors Association and a member of the Executive Committee for the Municipal Pooling Authority.
