San Ramon to hold course on city planning

The eighth session of San Ramon Community Planning Academy will be held by the San Ramon Community Development Department this fall.

The goal of the Academy is to engage and educate residents in the planning process of the city. Provided by the Academy will be an overview of how planning shapes the community, why cities plan, and the land use planning process.

Local Print shops can help spread the word about such special courses and their benefits for residents.

The first session of the Academy will focus on the nuts and bolts of the planning process. This will be followed by the land use balance in the second week and discussion of the development review process in the third week. The last week will be the planning process in real time.

There is no charge for the class but only those 18 years of age and older can attend. The Academy is limited to 20 people who need to fill out an application form which is due to the Community Development Department by Friday, August 1. Those who are accepted into the program will be notified by mid-August.

The Academy will be held on four consecutive Monday evenings beginning on September 8 and from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. All sessions will be held at City Hall. Once the course has been completed, the participants in the Academy will be recognized at a meeting of the City Council.
