San Ramon to celebrate Independence Day

The Run San Ramon 5K/10K Run and Walk and the Fastest Mile races will be taking place in the morning with a special concert in the evening.

This is 37th year of this festive race. The course for the 5K/10K is paved and runs through the city, while the Fastest Mile, a new addition to the event, will follow the same course in both directions, starting at the San Ramon Central Park Community Center. A bib, a short sleeve commemorative shirt, and a medal will be given to all participants. Often, unique logo designs are used on special gifts given to participants.

This is a chip-timed race, and first, second, and third place awards will be given out for each race by age group at the end of the race. There will also be ice cream, fruit, and other refreshments for all participants.

The Fastest Mile will start at 7:30 am and the 5K/10K Run and Walk will start at 8:00 am next Monday, July 4.

There will also be a Fourth of July Celebration Concert at the San Ramon Central Park Amphitheater later in the day featuring Pride & Joy, billed as “The Bay Area Party Band.” A tribute to veterans and patriotic music from Olympia Fields will open the concert, which will get underway at 5:00 pm.
