Residential development to be built in San Ramon

A property near Bishop Ranch in San Ramon has been purchased by a homebuilder for the development of a new residential project.

The property is at the intersection of Alcosta Boulevard and Crow Canyon Road. The homebuilder is Lennar Homes of California, which will construct 117 units on the property.

The 117 units will be comprised of 86 detached single-family homes and 31 units in attached townhouses. There will be junior accessory dwelling units in half of the homes, which will increase the capacity of the development to 165 units. Five of the units will be affordable housing.

To be known as Iron Horse Village, the development will be built next to the Iron Horse Trail, with pedestrian access to the trail provided. This is a greenway that is 40 miles long, and was a rail line between 1891 and 1977 for the Southern Pacific Railroad. Such sites often use banner printing to inform the community of such upcoming projects.

Affiliates connected to Lennar Homes, based in Miami, and Kennedy Lewis Investment Management of New York City purchased the property for $40.5 million. This site currently has two office buildings. It is planned that the two office buildings, along with a parking lot next to a post office, will be demolished to make way for the housing projects.
