Superintendent of the California schools, Tony Thurmond, has announced that nine elementary schools in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD) have been selected for the California Distinguished Schools Program for 2023.
These schools have been recognized by the state for their exceptional student support and success. They join the total of 356 elementary school in the state that have also been recognized in this fashion.
Announcements of such awards are often made known throughout a school district and community with flyer printing.
The California Department of Education uses several criteria to identify schools eligible for this recognition, and these are given based on their performance on specific indicators on the California School Dashboard. Schools are selected by analyzing data reported on the Dashboard from last year and include suspension rates, chronic absenteeism, assessment results, and socioeconomic data. The elementary schools that were selected for this recognition demonstrate the dedication and hard work of the staff and educators.
The district has expressed its pleasure that these schools in the SRVUSD were selected as Distinguished Schools and its pride that these schools have received such a prestigious award. More schools were selected for this award in the SRVUSD than any other school district, which is one of the most recognized districts across the state.
Among the schools that were recognized for this award are Neil Armstrong, Live Oak, John Baldwin, and Vista Grande Elementary Schools.
