New lung cancer technology offered in San Ramon

The San Ramon Regional Medical Center is offering an innovation in the fight against lung cancer.

Such announcements are often disseminated throughout the community with banner printing.

The MomarchTM Platform is used to see inside the lungs and can obtain a tissue sample for a biopsy. This will enable an earlier and more precise diagnosis of these nodules, which are small and hard to reach.

The latest advancements in data science, endoscopy, robotics, and software make this technology possible. The San Ramon Regional Medical Center is only one out of 10 hospitals in the state that utilize this technology.

A controller-like interface that is familiar to physicians is utilized by the Monarch Platform, and enables them to navigate a robotic endoscope flexible enough to view the periphery of the lungs and provide improved vision, reach, and control. It uses computer-assisted navigation based on three dimensional models of the lung anatomy of a patient, so that the physician has continuous bronchoscope vision throughout the entire procedure.

CEO of San Ramon Regional Medical Center, Ann Lucena, said the Monarch Platform holds potential for an earlier diagnosis as it improves the vision, reach, and control for bronchoscopic procedures. Lucena expressed her excitement about the promise of this technology to offer more hope and a brighter future for the Center’s patients.
