New fire training facility to come to San Ramon

Ground has been broken on the South County Training Center in San Ramon, which will be a state-of-the art training center for firefighters.

News of such major events can often made known throughout a community with flyer printing.

This new training center will also have a training tower many storeys high that will be used for high-rise fire simulations, roof props for ventilation training, a water reclamation area, classrooms, and specialized areas for technical training rescue.

The new facility will also enable firefighters to train for different scenarios without the need to leave the community.

Chief of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District, Paige Meyer, said that training is essential for firefighters. He added that this new facility will give the firefighters the experiences they face in the community, and will challenge them.

The half cent sales tax of Measure X from Contra Costa will partially fund the new training facility.

The newly renovated Public Safety Facility in San Ramon is also now open. It houses an emergency operation center for coordinated responses during an event of large scale, offices for the fire protection district, a primary Public Safety Answering Point 911 center for emergency dispatch, and the headquarters for the San Ramon Police Department.

This Public Safety Facility will be a hub for public safety in the valley, and was built to withstand a major earthquake.
