Farm in San Ramon to host Victorian-era activities

Forest Home Farms in San Ramon Boulevard will be hosting Fun on the Farm on Saturdays later this month.

Held every week, these presentations all come with their own theme, and are free and open to the public. The presentations include activities and crafts that highlight farm life in the late Victorian era, and are a chance to step back in history to enjoy life’s simpler times.

Such unique events are often promoted throughout a city and surrounding communities with poster printing.

“Weather and Time” will feature different tools that were used to check the weather and tell the time. This will kick off the schedule this Saturday, August 10.

“Bread and Jam” will enable guests to thresh, grind, and sift kernels of wheat to make flour and bake bread. Guests will also learn about the process of canning to make jam, and discover the many varieties of jams that were made and sold by Ruth Boone in the mid-1900s. This will be on Saturday, August 17.

Finally, “Hello? Operator?” will focus on the history of the telephone at a time when people did not have their own phone numbers. Guests will also make their own vibratory telephone set. This presentation will be on Saturday, August 24.

All presentations will be from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
