Center for the arts opens in San Ramon

The Dougherty Community Arts Center is now open on Bollinger Canyon Road in San Ramon. The center is designed to showcase the commitment of the city to fostering artistic expression and creativity by providing a home for artistic endeavors.

A grand opening ceremony was recently held at the center to welcome this much-anticipated space to the community. Art commissioners, members of the city council, art commissioners, artists, and enthusiastic members of the community attended this event.

The center has many features that are designated to cater to artists and art enthusiasts. Among these are a green room, studio spaces custom designed for various artistic mediums, a soundproof music room, two sound studios, classroom spaces, an expanded art gallery, and two community rooms.

The center is also planning a series of low cost and free workshops on dance, visual arts, music, and theatre before the start of recreation classes next month. Other programs and events planned at the center include art gallery exhibits, open art studios, and drop-in classes. The use of brochure printing can be effective in promoting such classes, workshops, and events throughout the community.

Adam Chow, Recreation Supervisor, said this is a dream come true where dedicated spaces for different art Forms can be held under one roof. He added that this center will enable innovation and collaboration among artists in San Ramon that has not been previously possible.
