Canadian Afie Jurvanen is a Toronto native who is better known by his stage name, Bahamas. He is probably most famous for his work with one of Canada’s biggest rock bands, Feist. He also worked with artists such as Zeus, The Weather Station, The Lumineers, and others before finding his place with Feist, the group with which he collaborates most frequently.
In 2009, he released “Pink Strat,” a folk album, using the name Bahamas. The album proved to be his breakthrough and the name stuck. “Pink Strat” was made under unusual circumstances, with Bahamas and his friends staying in a rural Ontario cabin and recording their own material.
The album was nominated for a Juno Award as the best Roots and Traditional album of the year in 2009. The following year, it was also nominated for a Polaris Music prize. Bahamas’ recent releases include the album “Sad Hunk,” which he dropped in 2020.
A concert review says:
“Bahamas is one of those musicians who has found his musical niche, and yet still manages to have a very broad appeal - and that is even more true of his performances.”
Bahamas will appear at The Fillmore in San Francisco on March 18. When concerts like this are scheduled, organizers often use poster printing to create compelling advertising for the event.
