San Francisco will welcome community members this August as the Miles for Melanoma 5K returns to raise funds for melanoma research and patient support.
Organized by the Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF), the nationwide event brings together melanoma patients, survivors, caregivers, families, and supporters to increase awareness of the disease while helping fund research and advocacy programs.
Participants can take part in a 5K run or walk and enjoy a range of family-friendly activities throughout the morning. Event highlights include a photo booth, outdoor games, children's activity packs, and sponsor giveaways such as tote Bags and other promotional items.
The route is not a certified 5K course. Organizers encourage participants to familiarize themselves with the course before race day, as runners are responsible for following the designated route throughout the event.
Organizers are expected to use banner printing to promote the fundraiser, encourage community participation, and improve event visibility. Branded signage and printed materials also help guide visitors and create a welcoming race-day experience.
The event will take place on Sunday, August 30 at the San Francisco Zoo, Upper Great Highway, San Francisco, California. The event site opens at 7:00am, opening ceremonies begin at 8:00am, and the 5K starts at 8:30am. The event will proceed rain or shine, with parking available at the zoo for a fee.
