What's Happening in San Francisco, CA…

Alt-rock event comes to San Francisco

Three bands in the indie and alt-rock genre are coming to San Francisco.

Sponge, and Local H are on the way, with Everclear headlining the show. Everclear formed in Portland, Oregon, in 1992 with Art Alexakis, Greg Eklund and Craig Montoya as the founders. Their first three albums, “Sparkle and Fade,” “Songs from an American Movie Vol. One,” and “So Much for the Afterglow” were all successful, certified 3x Platinum. Despite this the band lost momentum and Montoya and Eklund left. However, Alexakis kept the band going with new members, and now focuses mainly on touring. A review says:

“. . . their live performances still stand strong to this day.”

Sponge formed in Detroit in 1991, moving from hard rock to grunge and finding success with that format. Their album “Rotting Piñata,” their debut, was certified Gold by the RIAA. They are best known for “Molly (16 Candles Down the Drain),” a single. A review says;

“Amazing show last night ! . . . just straight-ahead rock and roll from the Motor city.”

Local H is a duo from Zion, Illinois, who got together in 1987. They are a power group playing indie, alternative, and classic rock. Their most recent studio album in 2020’s “LIFERS.” A review says:

“You would be hard pressed to find a more energized rock show.”

The show is scheduled for September 6 at San Francisco’s August Hall. When they book shows like this, organizers can use poster printing to promote them.
