Musical heir coming to San Francisco

The son of a rock legend who has his own career is coming to San Francisco.

Dweezil Zappa is the son of the legendary Frank Zappa, which meant he was aware of the music industry from the time he was a child. He developed an affinity for the guitar, and learned to play from such icons as Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai, and dropped his debut single when he was 12.

Although Dweezil Zappa has written and recorded his own music, he also has devoted much of his time to carrying on his father’s legacy - Frank Zappa passed away in 1993 at the age of 52. Dweezil tours with Zappa Plays Zappa, which performs renditions of Frank Zappa’s original music. Occasionally, musicians who played with the elder Zappa, such as Steve Vai, will sit in with the band.

Zappa seems comfortable playing with his own outfit, or in projects for other artists. He has released 13 albums, dropping the most recent, “Warts & All,” in 2020. His guitar work can be heard on the 1987 album “Wipe Out” by the Fat Boys, and he appeared in the music video for Don Johnson’s “Heartbeat.” A review says:

“Hey music lovers: Are you ready to be jaw droppingly amazed? Go see Dweezil Zappa and his band. That will do the trick.”

Zappa will be at The Warfield in San Francisco on August 4. Organizers of events like this will often use poster printing to create publicity for them.
