Pink Martini is joining the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra for a performance later this summer. Pink Martini was founded in Oregon in 1994 by pianist Thomas Lauderdale,and is a small orchestra that numbers around a dozen players who sing in over two dozen languages. They cut across a number of genres, and play jazz, Latin, pop, and classical music, and collaborate with many different artists.
They have joined with more than 70 orchestras throughout the world, including the BBC Concert Orchestra at London's Royal Albert Hall; the Sydney Symphony; and the Los Angeles Philharmonic; as well as the San Francisco Symphony.

The San Francisco Symphony is now over 100 years old, have been founded in 2011. Its Music Director, Michael Tilson Thomas, has held that position for 25 years, the longest tenure of any conductor of a major U.S. orchestra.
