Electronic music legends to hit San Francisco

A group that almost defines electronic music will appear in San Francisco in less than two weeks’ time.

Depeche Mode got together in the 1970s, when their music was highly influenced by that of fellow British band The Cure. Soon after their formation, they turned to synthesizers, inspired by another UK-based electronic group, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.

Their first contract was with Mute Records, which was a label just getting started, and they released their first studio album, “Speak & Spell,” on Mute in 1981. They have continued a robust recording career, releasing their latest effort, “Memento Mori,” earlier this year. “Speak & Spell” topped out at 192 on the U.S. charts, but “Memento Mori” climbed to No. 14, a gauge of how far the group has come in three decades.

A recent review says:

"They have enjoyed international success for over 3 decades now and continue to tour with as much passion and energy as when the act first started performing . . ."

Young Fathers, a Scottish trio that blends pop, rap, soul, and noise into their signature sound, is on tour with Depeche Mode, and the bands will be at San Francisco’s Chase Center on Sunday, December 3. When events like this are planned, organizers can promote them by using poster printing to create suitable advertising.
