Country singer/songwriter comes to San Francisco

An artist with four consecutive Grammys to her credit will perform in San Francisco in a few weeks.

Mary Chapin Carpenter sang in clubs around Washington, D.C. for several years before Columbia Records signed her in the 1980s. The label promoted her as a country artist, and released her first album, “Hometown Girl,” in 1987. This initial effort did not chart, but two subsequent albums, “State of the Heart,” released in 1989, and “Shooting Straight in the Dark,” which dropped in 1990, put four singles each into the Top 20 on the Billboard Country Singles chart.

Carpenter had her greatest success with “Come On Come On,” which she released in 1992. The album produced seven singles that hit the country charts, and won the quadruple Platinum certification, indicating sales of more than four million Copies.

From 2001 through 2021, Carpenter changed her focus from country to more political and societal issues and released 11 albums. The latest is 2021’s “One Night Lonely.”

Carpenter, who is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, has won a total of five Grammys and sold over 12 million records throughout the world. A review says:

“With a rich alto sound and fantastic musicianship, Carpenter and her five-piece band held the audience at Wolf Trap in the palm of their hands.

Carpenter will appear at the Palace of Fine Arts on June 9. When events such as this are on the schedule, organizers can use poster printing to create compelling advertising for the show.
