Comedian/actress to perform in San Francisco

A San Francisco native who has overcome personal struggles to build an impressive résumé is coming to San Francisco.

Margaret Cho is a stand-up comedian, actress, musician, and activist. Many of her routines focus on social and political issues, for which she has become known. Her rise to stardom really took off after her work on “All-American Girl,” a sitcom that aired on ABC in 1994 and 1995. With that foundation, she established her career as a stand-up comic.

Her acting has taken her to both the big and small screen. In addition to “All-American Girl,” she was a cast member in Lifetime Television’s series “Drop Dead Diva,” and in 2012, she garnered a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her appearance on “30 Rock,” where she played the late North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il.

On the big screen, Cho has appeared in the movies “Fire Island,” “It’s My Party,” and “Face/Off,” in which she co-starred with John Travolta.

A review of Cho in live performance says:

“The show was amazing, . . . I also really appreciate the way she tackles the most difficult of subjects. . .. She's the best comedian I've seen . . .”

Margaret Cho will be at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on Friday, June 2. Audiences often like to learn about performers’ backgrounds, which can be described in programs created when organizers use brochure printing.
