Natalie Merchant is on her “An Evening with Natalie Merchant: Keep Your Courage Tour,” and tickets are now available for her upcoming concert.
Merchant began her career in 1981 when she joined the group 10,000 Maniacs, the same year the band was founded. She became their primary lyricist and lead vocalist, and stayed with them while they released their first seven albums. In 1993, she left 10,000 Maniacs to go out on her own.
Merchant began her solo career with her debut album “Tigerlily,” which dropped in 1995. “Beloved Wife,” a track from the album, was featured in the trailer for the movie “Message in a Bottle.” “Tigerlily” was a success both commercially and critically, with the single “Carnival” climbing into the Top Ten. Two other singles, “Jealousy” and “Wonder” were Top 40 hits, and the album sold more than five million Copies. To date, Merchant has released nine albums as a solo artist, dropping “Keep Your Courage,” which the tour supports, in 2023. A review says Merchant:
“. . . commands the stage with a floating stage presence . . . and a timeless and powerful alto voice.”
Natalie Merchant will appear at The Masonic, located at 1111 California Street in San Francisco, on September 26. When concerts like this are scheduled, organizers can promote them by using poster printing to create striking advertisements.
