San Diego is 'the' place for runners

Runners who want a challenge, or simply want to have fun, should plan to be in San Diego soon.

The Annual San Diego Half Marathon and Padres 5K have been scheduled, along with the 2-Person San Diego Half Marathon Relay. Everyone who takes part in any of the races will receive a finisher’s medal, a commemorative gift with the Padres branding, a technical running shirt, and a ticket to a 2020 Padres game.

The course of the half-marathon, a 13.1-mile race, takes runners through some of the city’s prettiest areas. The runners will follow Harbor Drive along San Diego Bay, Harbor Island, then through Liberty Station, NTC Park, which was the Naval Training Center, and past the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. From there runners will climb Washington Street up to the Hillcrest and Mission Bay areas, then down the west side of Balboa Park to the ballpark.

Those in the 2-Person relay will split the difference, with each person running about 6.5 miles over the same course. The 5K follows Harbor Drive to Ash Street where runners will go one block east, and head to Petco Park following Pacific Highway, Union Street, and Market Street.

All three races are scheduled for March 15. The 5K starts at 6.55 am, and the half-marathon and 2-person relay start at 7.30 am. All races start from Harbor Drive and 5th Avenue and end at the ballpark. Banner printing can provide materials to mark start and finish lines of events like this.
