Carla Morrison is a native of Tecate, Baja California, where she took classes in dancing and drawing. She moved to Phoenix when she was 17 to study music and was a student at Mesa Community College until she left school to become the lead singer of the band Babaluca. She subsequently left the group to begin her solo career.
In 2009, Morrison released “Aprendiendo a Aprender,” her debut EP, which began her climb to success. Although the EP was an independent project, it contained the singles “Lagrimas” and “Esta Soledad,” which were both used in the soundtrack of “Soy tu Fan,” a television show.
She dropped her second EP, “Mientras Tu Dormias,” in 2010, and her popularity increased, leading to a tour of major cities in Mexico, Colombia and the United States. The EP also won a nomination for a Latin Grammy Award. She released her debut studio album, “Dejenme Llorar,” in 2012. The effort was nominated for five Latin Grammy Awards winning two, “Best Alternative Song” and “Best Alternative Album.” Her latest effort, a single “No Me Llamas,” appeared in 2020.
A review says:
