Come for the suds, stay for the sounds

A festival of beer, food, fun, and music, all for a good cause, is on the way to San Diego.

For the 10th year, the San Diego Beer Fest will bring dozens of craft beers, from local breweries as well as international companies, to America's Finest City for an afternoon of sampling. Rogue, which brews a variety of beers in Newport, Oregon, and distributes them throughout the country, may be the best-known name on the list, but beer lovers can also enjoy samples from Dos Desperadoes, Baja Brewing Company, Angel City Brewery, and many more.

One of the most notable names on the list is Aztec. The first Aztec Brewery was founded in Mexico during the Prohibition years, and moved to San Diego when Prohibition was overturned. Aztec Brewery was sold to a Midwestern competitor in 1948, and faded from the San Diego scene. In 2008, John Webster and his family restarted the brand and returned it to the local market.

In addition to beers, there will be food trucks on site, and cover bands will be playing hits from favorite acts. The money raised at the Beer Fest will go Noah’s B-ark, Inc., a non-profit organization that saves dogs from shelters and helps them find forever homes.

The Brew Fest takes place from 12.00 pm until 4.00 pm on January 11, at Liberty Station NTC Park on Cushing Road. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts to identify vendors at events like this.
