Top bands to watch coming to San Diego

Melt and MARIS, two bands on the way up, are making a stop in San Diego.

Melt formed in 2017 in New York City, where its founders began playing together in high school. They released “Sour Candy,” a single, while they were still in college, when NPR called them “one groovy superorganism,” noting the energy they bring to their live sets.

They toured nationally in 2021 and released their EP “West Side Highway” that year, continuing to develop their cohesiveness as players as well as drawing attention of critics who considered them a group to watch.

Their first album, “If There’s a Heaven” is due out in 2024 and features a range of styles from a love ballad (“Your Name”) to pop (“Plant the Garden”) to soulful rock (“Heaven”). The album chronicles the joys and hardships of coming of age but ultimately connects with audiences on every level.

Also on the bill is MARIS, a native of Missoula, Montana, who is now based in Los Angeles. She is a prolific songwriters whose willingness to reveal her truths has won her many fans. She has toured internationally, and released an EP, “Gravity,” in 2023. She accompanied the EP with a video, “Gravity: The EP: the Movie.” Like Melt, she is on the way up.

Melt and MARIS will be at the Music Box on October 25. Organizers often seek out printers who use poster printing to create advertising for them when they schedule events like this.
