Singing the blues in San Diego

A blues singer who reaches out to her audiences is on the way to San Diego.

Beth Hart, a Los Angeles native, is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and vocalist who performs authentic blues. When she was beginning her career, she battled addiction, but that experience deepened her love for the blues and the way the genre reaches the core of what it means to be human.

Hart started to achieve real success in the 1990s, when she was starring as Janis Joplin in an off-Broadway production “Love, Janis.” Her performance as Joplin revealed her powerful voice, and why she was chosen for the part. At the time, she released the “Screamin’ for My Supper” album, which contained “LA Song (Out of this Town).” The song was a hit and climbed to the number one spot in New Zealand.

From that beginning, her reputation and fanbase have grown steadily. Among her output are two recordings she made with Joe Bonamassa, himself a legendary blues guitarist. She dropped her most recent album, “A Tribute to Led Zeppelin,” in 2022.

Hart has appeared live in some of the world’s most important venues, including London’s Royal Albert Hall. A review of a live show in Portland, Oregon says:

“[Hart] sings, plays and dances with so much deep down soul crushing emotion.”
