A San Diego neighborhood is planning an event that promises to be fun for the whole city.
Ocean Beach is holding its 41st Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off, and is expecting to welcome over 70,000 people. Attendees will enjoy a chili cook-off, vendors, continuous music on four different stages, the Community Mural Project, an eating contest, and more.
There are 20 teams in the Chili Cook-Off competition, in restaurant and amateur divisions. Contestants will be competing to take home titles of People's Choice, Judge's Choice, Best Amateur Chili, and Best Restaurant Chili.
Hodad's, a popular Ocean Beach restaurant that has been serving hamburgers since 1969, is hosting the Hodad's Burger-Eating Competition. Winners will be featured on Hodad's Wall of Fame in the Ocean Beach location.
Rock & Roll San Diego students and local bands will be playing all day. Festival-goers over 21 can enjoy live music and cocktails or cold brews at the Beachside Bar, while there will be a wings-eating contest hosted by Dirty Birds, to take place near the main stage.
The OB fair is scheduled to run from 10.00 am until 8.00 pm on June 27 n several locations: Newport Avenue along the 4800-5000 blocks; in the parking lot at the pier; and on the waterfront. The chili cook-off will take place from 11.00 am until 2.00 pm. Music at the Beachside Bar will rock from 11.00 am until 8.00 pm.
