Registration opens for fun San Diego camps

A huge range of workshops is available for youngsters in San Diego this summer.

The Fleet Science Center will be the place for youngsters to be to enjoy some amazing summer camps that are both fun and educational. In-person camps are taking place, and a virtual option is available.

There is a huge variety of camps available. For those attending in-person who are in grades 1-3, a sampling of these events includes the Energy Explorer, Super Solar System, and the Wizard’s Workshop. Those who take the Energy Explorer will explore motion, sound, light, and more. They will build windmills, design musical instruments, investigate solar panels, and observe chemical reactions as they learn about energy in many Forms.

The Super Solar System class discusses the planets and what is known of them, and the Wizards’ Workshop uses science to recreate the magic performed by wizards in films and Books.

Camps for those in grades 4-6+ include Astronaut Camp, in which students will conduct two simulated space missions and learn how to work as teams to complete a mission. This includes everything from a rocket launch to exploring other planets. Virtual programs are not as detailed, but still offer a wide variety of subjects.

The Fleet Science Center is in Balboa Park, and registration is open now. The first in-person camp begins June 21. Print shops can help organizers of programs like this create educational materials.
