A San Diego realtor has launched a new service to making house hunting easier by giving prospective buyers a new perspective – an aerial one.
Seth O'Byrne, who is with Sotheby's International Realty, offers his clients a chance to see their new home from a helicopter, free of charge.
The aerial surveys allow prospective buyers to learn about traffic patterns, nearby construction, and the topography of their new neighborhood. The view from the chopper allows people to see the freeways and surface streets and the way they feed into each other, as well as the hills and the access to the beach. The service is particularly valuable for people new to San Diego, or those who are short on time for home shopping.
O'Byrne notes that showing a buyer from five to seven properties can take an entire day, but they can cover the same number of homes in about 40 minutes by air. He also points out that the helicopter rides are not just for the very wealthy, but for anyone serious about buying a home in San Diego or its outlying areas. The main criterion is not how much someone is planning to spend, but whether or not they know the city.
Sotheby's could work with brochure printers to create a booklet for prospective buyers, letting them know about the service.
