One of San Diego's most popular holiday traditions is returning to kick off the holiday season with lights, tasty treats, and more.
Balboa Park December Nights brings together families and friends to enjoy the park, its museums, plus holiday goodies. The festival is one of the largest community events in the country, taking two days, and covering the entire expanse of Balboa Park. During the event, the museums in Balboa Park offer free admission
The entire park will be lighted for the holidays, including decorations on the Moreton Bay Fig Tree, and the Botanical Building. Seasonal entertainment suitable for the entire family will be performed, and holiday cuisine and beverages are part of the celebration. Officials anticipate more than 375,000 visitors could attend.
Balboa Park December Nights was once known as Christmas on the Prado, and dates back more than 60 years. Christmas on the Prado is still going strong, but is now a fundraiser as well as being a collection point for the Toys for Tots effort, and is held on different dates.
This year, Balboa Park December Nights runs from 3:00 pm until 11:00 pm on December 6, and from noon until 11:00 pm on December 7. Free admission to the many museums is offered from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on the two days of the event. Banner printing can provide colorful decorations for events like this.
