Pop legend to have fun in San Diego
One of pop music’s brightest stars is coming to San Diego.
Cyndi Lauper is best known for her 1983 smash hit “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” which has led to some observers describing her as a “one-hit wonder.” While it is true that the song remains her most popular, a look at Lauper’s track record reveals the tag is undeserved.
Her first four singles climbed into the Top Five on the Billboard Singles chart, the first time a female solo artist achieved this milestone. She has released 11 studio albums, 33 music videos, 53 singles, seven video albums, and eight compilation albums. Worldwide, she has sold approximately 50 million DVDs, singles, and albums, and her first album, “She’s So Unusual,” which contains “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” has now been certified seven times Platinum by the RIAA.
Lauper has also won numerous awards, including an MTV Music Video Award, two Grammys, an Emmy, and a Tony for “Kinky Boots,” for which she wrote the music and lyrics. A concert review says:
Cyndi Lauper will be at the Viejas Arena on Wednesday, November 20. When they schedule major events like this, organizers may want to contact a printer who will use poster printing to create advertising.
