Harry Connick, Jr., has enjoyed a successful career in many different aspects of entertainment—acting, singing, composing, and playing the piano. He is known to television audiences for his role on “Will and Grace,” where he played Grace’s husband, Leo Markus, from 2002 until 2006.
Connick is a native of New Orleans, where he began learning keyboards at age three, first playing publicly when he was five, and making records with a jazz band at age ten. He played Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 Opus 37 with the Louisiana Philharmonic (then the New Orleans Symphony). He was nine years.
He had sold more than 30 million records by 2019, and the RIAA ranks him as among the nation’s top 60 best-selling male artists. He has put seven albums in the U.S. top 20, and had ten of his jazz albums hit the No. 1 spot. He has won two Grammys and an Emmy, appeared on Broadway in an acclaimed revival of “The Pajama Game,” and starred in numerous films, including the blockbuster “Independence Day.” A review says:
