For the 48th year in a row, Comic-Con will be held in San Diego, bringing thousands of comic, graphic novel, and film fans to what has become possibly the biggest pop culture celebration in the world.
As part of the wacky goings-on, people will also be able to dress their pets as their favorite superhero.
The Helen Woodward Animal Center is sponsoring the 4th annual PAWmicon Convention, which is scheduled for just before Comic-Con. The event is family-friendly, and includes arts, crafts, snacks, games for both pets and their people, and, probably most importantly, a costume contest. PAWmicon is free, but it will cost $10 to enter the contest. Pet parents can wear a costume to match their dog's outfit, or enter the pooch alone.
The purpose of PAWmicon is to encourage attendees to be superheroes to an animal, and provide a forever home for a pet. Funds raised at the event will go to help support the animal center. While Comic-Con is at the convention center, PAWmicon is at Hazard Center, on Hazard Center Drive.
Comic-Con is holding its Preview Night next Wednesday, July 19, while PAWmicon is scheduled for this Saturday, July 15, from 10:00 am until noon. The pet gathering has been planned for this time and date at the request of convention-goers, who want to attend both.
