Steven Wright is a native of Cambridge, Massachusetts, who has gained fame not only as a comedian, but as an actor, writer, and producer. In 1988, he produced and wrote a short film, “The Appointments of Dennis Jennings,” which won him the Academy Award in the “Best Live Action Short Film” category. He produced the television show “Louie,” which ran from 2010-2015, and was nominated twice for a Primetime Emmy for the show. He also played the role of Leon in the “Horace and Pete” web series, which won a Peabody Award. He has worked extensively in film and television.
However, he is best known for comedy. In 2017, “Rolling Stone” ranked Wright as their “15th Greatest Comedian” on their list of “50 Greatest Stand-up Comics.” He is known for his deadpan, slow delivery of material including non sequiturs, silly jokes, and paraprosdokians. The latter is a category of joke in which the end of a remark is unexpected. The classic is probably Henny Youngman's “Take my wife—please.”

Wright will appear March 20 at 8.00 pm. The historic Balboa Theatre is on 4th Avenue in downtown San Diego. Poster printing is often used to create advertisements when events like this are scheduled.
