Musical rescheduled for San Diego

A musical based on a wildly popular television show has been rescheduled and will appear in San Diego next year.

“The Office! A Musical Parody” is a humorous send-up of “The Office,” which was broadcast on NBC for nine seasons. The show was a mockumentary set in the fictional paper company of Dunder Mifflin of Scranton, Pennsylvania, where a camera crew chronicled the misadventures of its employees.

The large ensemble cast dealt with issues typical of business, such as the potential closing of an office, downsizing, and interoffice romances and relationships. In addition, they deliberately interacted with the film crew making the purported documentary, often speaking directly to the camera.

The play is comprised of some of the most memorable moments from the entire nine years of the series, mashed together to represent a typical day at the office. Song include “Marry Me Beesly,” “That's What She Said,” and “We Have Fun Here.”

One review said the show is:

“An R-rated version of The Office which is perfect for a parody. . . I’ll say this [is] a must see for any fan of The Office.”

Brochure printing is often used by organizers to create programs for performances of this type.

The Office! A Musical Parody is now scheduled for the Balboa Theatre on January 19 and 20, 2021, at 7:30pm.
