A band that is getting some notable coverage is coming to the Music Box in San Diego.

Lead Pony got together in 2016, when Dylan Stallard, Hillary Laughery, and Jesse Hofstee began writing songs, playing together, and recording with no plan in in mind other than the ambition of doing something new. The rock band has evolved over the years but has never lost its originality, and the three founders have retained their creativity.

Lead Pony released two Eps – “Two Love Songs” and “Eclipse” – and followed up the releases with tours supporting the efforts. They succeeded, and their music was used in the British TV show “Shameless.” The group took a break starting in 2019, but reunited in 2021, driven by the need to record a full-length album.

After the break, the band members say “feel” of the lyrics and music changed, morphing into something that felt much larger than the musicians or the band as a whole. Lead Pony felt the new material had to be shared, and with the addition of bassist Seancarlo Ohlin, the band headed back to the studio. Their full-length debut album, “Vultures” is due out next month.

Lead Pony will be at the Music Box on July 13, which is the day before the album release. When concerts like this are planned, organizers can use poster printing to create advertising for the event.
