An unusual light exhibit is on its way to San Diego to help residents celebrate the holidays.
Global Winter Wonderland, which started in Sacramento, is a 17-acre installation that features a ‘Circus of Lights’, and over 50 displays of landmarks and scenes from all over the globe, including Big Ben, the Taj Mahal, and the Eiffel Tower, and all brightly lit from within. Some of the attractions have been constructed specifically for San Diego.
One of the highlights (excuse the pun) is a display of Chinese lanterns that have been created by almost 100 artisans from China, who have been hand-sewing the delicate objects in preparation for the event. Some of the lanterns are as high as 20 feet.
The event also features live entertainment, such as acrobats and other circus acts, as well as over 35 games and carnival rides suitable for the entire family. Crafts and activities with a holiday theme are available, and vendors will be on hand with tasty food, and unique gift items. Children can visit the North Pole, Candyland, and Toyland, and cap off their visit by writing a letter to Santa.
The Global Holiday Wonderland runs from November 19 to January 7, at SDCCU Stadium, located in Mission Valley. Hours and days of operation vary, so visitors should check before they go.
