They are the Little River Band (LRB), which first got together in 1975 in Melbourne, Australia. During the 1970s and the 1980s, the group charted repeatedly and watched as their albums went multiplatinum. Hits like “The Other Guy,” “Happy Anniversary,” “Lonesome Loser,” and more topped the charts.
LRB’s digital downloads, CD sales, and album sales worldwide are now more than 30 million. In addition, the band set a record by having hits in the Top 10 six years in a row, the first band ever to achieve this milestone.
Their career first got underway with the release of their debut album, “Little River Band,” in 1975. One critic called it:
“ . . an astonishingly strong debut album.”
The album was certified Gold the year after its release. After their success in Australia, LRB went to the UK, where they opened for Queen, and toured Europe, opening for the Hollies. Despite extensive lineup changes, LRB retained its identity, and continued its success. A review says:
“I have never been more blown away than I was when I saw Little River Band live.”
