Run for fun and beer in Montebello
An upcoming 5K run in Montebello ends with a cold beer.
The 5k Beer Run x Angry Horse Brewing is part of the 2024 California Brewery Running Series. The series started in 2012, in Minneapolis, with Morgan Jappe and Nate Herrington as the co-founders. Their goal was simple: combine the things they loved—supporting the community, drinking beer, and activity—into one event. The idea caught on and people all over the country now participate in local beer runs. They can run, jog, or walk a 5K, and then go to the local participating brewery for a cold one. In Montebello, that’s Angry Horse.
Race organizers have laid out a more-or-less 5K route that begins and finishes at the Angry Horse taproom, after leading participants through Montebello neighborhoods. Everyone who takes part in the run receives a craft beer when they finish; a choice of seasonal swag or a collector’s pint glass; an opportunity to win prizes, including beer and merchandise from the Brewery Running Series; and access to all the after-race events.
The course is open, meaning roads will not be blocked off, so runners are responsible to keep themselves safe. Runners, walkers, joggers, people pushing strollers—everyone is welcome, and the run is untimed.
The local Angry Horse Beer Run is April 27, from 10.00 am until 1.00 pm. Organizers of events like this will often work with print shops using banner printing to create course markers.
