A series of events in Montebello is coming to an end for the year.
The City of Montebello sets up its Concerts at the Park annually, bringing live music to the community. The family-friendly events are free, and feature bands and entertainment in a scenic setting.
Concerts at the Park end the season with a performance by Anything for Latinas: Selena Tribute. The band celebrates the legacy, style, and music of the “Queen of Tejano,” Selena Quintanilla-Pérez. Audiences can expect to hear hits like “Amor Prohibido,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” and “Coma La Flor.” Dancing and singalongs can also be expected at what promises to be a lively evening.
Selena was a singer-songwriter, business owner, and fashion designer, and in 1987 she won the Tejano Music Award for Female Vocalist of the Year. Overall, she was nominated for 91 awards and won 69, including three Grammys.
Event organizers note that parking near the park is limited and encourage people to use the shuttle from the Montebello City Hall to the park. This is the easiest way to get to the venue and is also free. Organizers of events like this can create advertising for them by using poster printing.
The concluding concert is set for next Wednesday, August 5, beginning at 6:30 pm in Montebello City Park. Attendees are encouraged to wear Selena-inspired clothing and bring blankets, lawn chairs, and their best moves. Food trucks, local vendors, and certified favorites from the farmers’ market will be available.
