Hip-hop fans should soon plan to be in Montebello to hear their favorite artists.
The Quiet Cannon is the venue for an upcoming hip-hop “explosion,” featuring Baby Bash, Warren G, and Too $hort.
Baby Bash is a rapper from Vallejo, California, who originally wanted to play basketball professionally. An injury sidelined him, and he turned to music, starting in his hometown of Vallejo as part of a group known as Potna Duece. He dropped his latest studio album, “Don’t Panic, It’s Organic,” in 2016. He has also appeared in several films.
Warren G (Warren Griffin III) is prominent in West Coast rap, which he helped popularize. He, along with Nate and Snoop Dogg, formed 213, a hip-hop trio, and found mainstream success when he released the single “Regulate” in 1994. “Regulate . . . G Funk Era,” his debut album, opened at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
Finally, Too $hort hails from Oakland, and like Warren G, was instrumental in establishing West Coast rap. He began his recording career in 1983, building a following in his hometown. In 1987, he released “Born to Mack,” which brought him to Jive Records’ attention. The label signed him, and in 1988 he released “Life Is . . . Too Short,” which went double Platinum.
This trio of star rappers will be at the Quiet Cannon on Saturday, February 4 at 7:00 pm. When organizers plan events like this, they can use flyer printing to create advertising handouts about the show.
