Dynamic duo to play Montebello

A brother-and-sister musical act is coming to Montebello and promises a great show.

Samy y Sandra Sandoval will be at the Quiet Cannon soon, where they will treat the audience to a show with Latin flair. The duo is from Panama, and performs tipico, which is a type of traditional Panamanian music blended with Panamanian-style cumbia. Cumbia is further defined as some of the music of Africa as expressed in Panama.

The duo are two years apart in age, and began performing when they were children—Sandra was nine and Samy eleven when they first went on stage. They are natives of Herrera Province, where they first performed, and then they began to appear in other provinces, such as Veraguas and Chiriquí, slowly building their audiences.

They began appearing on Panamanian television, and by the time they were in their early teens, they had formed Ritmo Montañero ("Mountaineer Rhythm"), their band. They appealed to young audiences, and their increasing popularity was attributed in part to Sandra’s dance and vocal ability, Samy’s skillful accordion playing, and their enthusiasm for their music. They performed their song “La Gallina Fina” (which translates as “The Fine Hen”) on the soundtrack of “The Tailor of Panama,” a film released in 2001.

Samy y Sandra Sandoval will appear Saturday, September 14 at Quiet Cannon. Colorful Posters are the perfect way to advertise an event like this. Organizers will often request printers to use poster printing techniques to create them.
