Native plants are important parts of the ecosystem they inhabit, and a Long Beach crafting class will both introduce this flora and also teach how to create a unique piece of home decor.
The Native Plant Wreath Workshop, which will be on offer thanks to the efforts of the team at Rancho Los Alamitos, will include a discussion led by a representative of the California Native Plant Society. Jen Aguilar will share her knowledge with the group, and no experience with horticulture or crafting is needed to enjoy the workshop.
The activity will begin with a tour of the venue’s native species garden, and attendees will find out how they have adapted to survive and thrive in conditions found in the area. The host will discuss why these plants are important and also how they are interconnected with other organisms, including animals, fungi, and microorganisms.
Once the walk has drawn to a close, participants will be taught how to prepare an eight-inch wreath they can display in their own home. Sheets of tips for plant care, as well as other information, can be prepared for an activity by Stationery printers that can take on graphic design projects.
