Long Beach to host urban development conference

Long Beach professionals are preparing for a March symposium intended to highlight some of the challenges that policymakers face regarding urban development. This seminar will last for three days, and organizers expect a high turnout rate.

The 2026 IDA + CDA Place Matters seminar is being hosted by the Long Beach International Downtown Association in conjunction with the Downtown Long Beach Alliance, and the California Downtown Association. This event was previously known as the West Coast Urban District Forum. While the branding may have changed, many of the topics to be discussed should already be familiar to attendees.

One of the main themes of this year's gathering is associated with how the role of technology is taking center stage when addressing the challenges attributed to urban place management. Other subjects include security issues, communication initiatives, and targeted development strategies.

Organizers will often promote community-oriented events as a means for business professionals to proactively interact with one another. Some methods include handing out Business Cards, exchanging personal details, and distributing white papers.

The 2026 IDA + CDA Place Matters is being held from Tuesday, March 10th to Thursday, Match 12th. All portions of this event will take place at the Westin Long Beach located at 333 East Ocean Boulevard. A detailed itinerary for each day can be found on the official Downtown Long Beach website. Non-members are asked to pay $535 to attend all three days, and member prices will be reduced to $435.
