Glendale group to present classic musical

The Nocturne Theatre will be bringing its production of the cult classic musical Little Shop of Horrors to Glendale this April.

The acclaimed musical, created by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, tells the story of floral assistant Seymour Krelborn, who finds himself in over his head growing a monstrous plant that demands more and more. The music combines Motown and R&B sounds with rock and roll, and features a number of classic songs. The Nocturne’s version of the musical features an in-the-round staging with audience members on all sides of the stage, and local talent in front of and behind the proverbial curtain.

Promotional material emphasizes the show’s production values and combination of horror and comedy:

“This production at The Nocturne Theatre promises an immersive experience full of dazzling performances, imaginative set designs, and the hilariously menacing Audrey II.”

The Glendale production will run on four consecutive weekends, with select mid-week performances and Sunday afternoon matinées. The Nocturne is known for their musical performances, with other shows this season including West Side Story and Shrek: The Musical. Community theatrical performances like this often use methods like flyer printing or online video to help reach local theater-lovers.

The Nocturne Theatre production of Little Shop of Horrors will be staged at the theater’s building in Glendale on select dates from April 11 to May 4.
