The Griffith Park Trail Marathon will return to the Glendale area this June, challenging runners to tackle the Los Angeles area’s largest park.
The run will include a full marathon as well as an 8-kilometer half marathon option. The trail will go over hills and through difficult terrain, suiting the Park’s reputation for rugged wilderness. The trail will also include aid stations staffed by volunteers to help provide safety and support runners. Participants can also sign up as part of a team to run a relay race or just support each other.
The finish line will conclude at a tailgate-style “Athlete’s Village” area. This area will include music provided by DJs and live performers as well as vendors selected from the community. Runs like this often offer awards and souvenirs created by local printing services or trophy shops, with the Griffith Park run offering T-Shirts, finisher medals, badges and more.
This year’s edition of the Marathon will include a new true loop course, an expanded festival area, and more professional photographers. Also new for 2026 is the “SoCal Showdown”, a race within the race where teams and individual racers can register to represent a neighbourhood or municipality. Griffith Park connects and impacts many communities, ranging from Glendale to the Los Feliz neighbourhood of LA.
The 2026 Griffith Park Marathon Relay will take place on June 7 at the Lower Old Zoo area of the park.
