The Fullerton Police Department (FPD) has officially announced the upcoming Citizen’s Academy.
The academy provides a chance to gain insight into how the police department operates. This course, lasting 10 weeks, offers insight into different facets of community police work. Participants will come to get a better understanding of how the department is structured, its community service initiatives, and how personnel respond to requests for assistance.
The aim of this course is to promote dialogue between law enforcement and the community, rather than to prepare individuals for police work. The instructors will consist of individuals from various levels within the department, such as the Police Chief, Bureau Commanders, Police Captains, Patrol Officers, Dispatchers, Detectives, and other personnel.
Participants are urged to pose questions and take part in discussions pertaining to the topics discussed. Every participant will have the opportunity to ride along with a patrol officer. Individuals who are interested are encouraged to register.
To be eligible for the program, applicants have to meet certain criteria. The applicants must live or work in Fullerton or go to school there. They must also be at least 21 years old, and they must not have any pending criminal trials, outstanding arrest warrants, or felony sentences. Those who are interested can get an application from the front desk at the police station during business hours. Print shops can be used to make Copies of sign-up Forms for all sorts of events.
The Citizen’s Academy will start March 12th and classes will take place on Wednesday evenings from 6 PM to 9 PM.
